NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

Monday, December 26th, 2011

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #453 …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

As 2011 is coming to a close, and that mystical year 2012 is ready to start, it is a good time to come-up with a plan for necessary self-improvements.

WEIGHT LOSS is on many people’s lists, but why stop there? How about ending your DIABETES, your LOSS OF STRENGTH, maybe even your ARTHRITIS, or HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?

These are all possible, because our body wants to repair itself, as long as it has the tools to do it right.

Those tools are changes in diet and attitude, certain supplements and some TIME.

We are all different, and the way we use these tools depends on the goals we are setting as well as the choices we make.

It is a great idea to start in January. However, don’t stop when you DO or DON’T get there. Set a more long-term goal, such as December of next year, and use the whole year to tweak your plans a little if necessary, as long as you are improving.

Let’s face it: WE ALL WANT TO FEEL BETTER! So, give yourself the gift of YOU(!) this New Year.

We are ready to help you get there, at …the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center, on North 19th Avenue.

SENSATIONAL SELENIUM, PART 2

Monday, November 7th, 2011

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #447 …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

According to the National Academy of Sciences, there is ongoing research on the trace-mineral SELENIUM.

One of those studies shows that SELENIUM has insulin-mimicking properties, which is good news for those struggling with sugar cravings, hypoglycemia and diabetes.

SELENIUM also reduces the oxidative stress associated with diabetes, and therefore has a positive influence in fighting symptoms of Neuropathy, Cataracts and Retinopathy.

And SELENIUM has shown to be essential for people suffering from a low functioning, or hypo-, thyroid gland.

While taking prescription medication, or supplements such as Iodine and Tyrosine, it would be good to add at least an extra 400 mcg to your daily regiment.

Then more research explains that SELENIUM is an antioxidant; and as an antioxidant it helps to regenerate Vitamin C and E so they can continue to fight free radicals.

SELENIUM surely packs-a-punch in improving our health. It definitely should NOT be ignored. There are different choices and companies available at …the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center, on North 19th Avenue.

DOES MEAT CAUSE DIABETES II?

Monday, August 15th, 2011

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #435 …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

On the WebMD.com website a new published study claims that red meat, bacon, hot dogs and processed meat are linked to an increased risk for diabetes II.

I urge you to take a second look: There are different types of red meat, such as corn- or grain-fed cow meat, and the much healthier grass-fed, lean red meat, bison and other game meat. Most bacon and other processed meat products contain high amounts of nitrate preservatives, which may increase insulin resistance.

And yes, some reports say that the iron content in red meat may accelerate oxidation in the body and therefore increase the risks for heart disease, arthritis, liver problems, and diabetes.

To slow down, or neutralize, iron absorption take 400-800 IU’s of Vitamin E daily with your meals, and add calcium and zinc supplements when you eat red meat.

We try NOT to sugarcoat anything, just giving you our best information, and quality dietary supplements at …the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center on North 19th Avenue.
