DEPRESS-ING TIMES

Monday, February 11th, 2013

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #510    …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

When going through DEPRESS-ING times, there are different nutritional supplements available today:

1. Our adrenal glands pump out CORTISOL and ADRENALINE to help us deal with stress, but when this continues for days, weeks, or months we are wearing out these glands. If too much stress makes you feel worn-out, or on the edge, then help your body and mind regain strength by supplementing them with a ONE or TWO capsules of a good vitamin B-complex, with an additional 3-4,000mg of vitamin C, and an ADRENAL support.

2. If it is a depressed feeling that comes over you on a regular or daily basis, spelling doom-and-gloom, as well as sadness, then try some St. JOHN’S WORT. This herb has demonstrated in clinical testing to help very well with mild to moderate depression. Success was shown with 900mg of St. JOHN’S WORT daily.

If you feel that stress or depression are dictating and ruining your day, then let us match you with some helpful products …at the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center, on North 19th Avenue.

STRESS AND NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES

Monday, April 30th, 2012

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #471      brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

Dealing with daily S-T-R-E-S-S works differently for different people, simply because we’re not all wired the same way.

Medical doctors often conclude there is a lack of adequate neurotransmitters such as Dopamine, Serotonin or Epinephrine; or there is too much demand on our body’s four major stress hormones: Adrenaline, Cortisol, DHEA, and Norepinephrine.

This is very well possible in many of the diagnosed cases. But, in my opinion, many MORE people have become deficient in simple nutrients, such as B-Vitamins and Vitamin C.

Now keep in mind that I’m talking about higher numbers here, such as a Vitamin B-100 Complex two or three times daily, and Vitamin C up to 10,000 mg per day.

STRESS comes in different forms and sizes, but it very often affects the way we eat and what we eat. When we’re stressed we may eat all the time or may stop eating all together. And when we do eat, it is often high-carbohydrate food, low in vitamins B and C.

Stop-in some time and read from our library of helpful books and magazines at …the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center, on North 19th Avenue.

ADRENAL FATIGUE

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #470    …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

A regular topic of discussion in the natural health industry is the weakness of our adrenal glands, also called Adrenal Fatigue.

The adrenals are small pyramid-shaped organs on top of our kidneys. They consist of two parts and each makes very specific hormones:

• The outer layer is called MEDULLA and produces the hormone DHEA. DHEA helps both testosterone and estrogen production.

• The inner layer is called CORTEX and this helps produce CORTISOL. CORTISOL is better known as our fight-or-flight or stress hormone.

The adrenals can only produce a certain amount of hormones and it balances that between daily amounts of DHEA and CORTISOL.

Adrenal Fatigue happens when the body is forced to make much more Cortisol than is programmed. Such is the case in most people’s daily stress. And because the adrenals can only do SO MUCH, they produce less DHEA, resulting in fatigue.

There are plenty answers to restore that balance. Some of those are available at …the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center, on North 19th Avenue.
