DHEA

RADIO HEALTH PEARL #363 …brought to you by the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center.

Our liver produces cholesterol. Pretty much all hormones are produced from cholesterol, which is another important reason that your cholesterol levels don’t become too low.

Remember this: Cholesterol is more important for your hormone production than that it is dangerous for your heart!

Cholesterol, once in our adrenals, is converted into the hormone DHEA, which has received much attention in the last decade.

DHEA is often referred to as the Mother Hormone, the Sex Hormone, or the Youth hormone. The main reason for this is that it naturally converts into Testosterone and Estrogens.

All of us make abundant DHEA until we are about 35 years old. After that production slowly declines until we are about 75.

And all of our DHEA is converted into both estrogens and testosterone; however men make more testosterone and women make more estrogen.

Hormone issues are both fascinating and confusing. We like to help you with both …at the Gesundheit! Nutrition Center on North 19th Avenue.
